Red Velvet Pancakes with Cream Cheese Frosting Syrup

Ingredients:
For the pancakes:
  • 1 ¼ cups white whole wheat flour or all purpose flour
  • 2 cups red velvet cake mix
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
For the syrup:
  • 1 (8oz) package of cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (plus extra for topping, if desired)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼-1/2 cup milk
